Paul's Place

My Place of reflection, joy and wonder

Liturgical Example: Confession

A Confession, Turning Back to God
(From Joel and Revelation)

Leader:
Sisters and Brothers, many of us from time to time have fallen away from our first love, and have followed other lords and served other wills than God’s will. Let us then remind ourselves of the promises of God in scripture, and turn our hearts again to Him.

Reader:
“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.

Leader:
Do you turn your back on every word and action which has denied your profession of faith in Christ?

Response:
I turn my back on them.

Reader:
“You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name and have not grown weary, but you have forsaken your first love”

Leader:
Do you turn again to the Lord?

Response:
I turn again to Him

Leader:
May Almighty God set you free from all that has drawn you away from him and strengthen you to walk into His future.

Amen
